On the east coast of New Zealand’s North Island is a local school that cares deeply about the ocean. Here the pupils study the waters in front of them as part of an education that helps connect kids to the sea as they are all too eager to show FISH OF THE DAY’s host Clarke Gayford. Also in this part of the world is a dive attraction that returns over ten million dollars in tourist revenue to the area each year, far exceeding any value from commercial fishing that could have ever be extracted. But much further out lies fertile fishing grounds where literally anything can show up and often does.
